They symbolizes strength, associated with prosperity and good fortune. Ancient Egyptians called the peridot the “gem of the Sun,” as they believed it protected those who wore it from the terrors of the night.
It appears numerous times in the Bible under the name chrysolite. Aaron the Priest, brother of Moses, wore a peridot into battle. They represent purity in faith.
